Back Cabin part2

It seems in this current climate of credit crunch that some companies would be dying to take my money off me. However after the quote for the boatmans cabin and other works, it would seem not. I got a quote for the back cabin, I then had to pick myself of the floor. It was was twice what I expected. It would seem that they really didn't want the work, if they go over the top with the quote.
I am now scratching my head, I am not if this is the going rate or not as I don't want to get several companies in if they end up quoting me the same sort of price. I have a friend looking at another alternative.
