Fire Fire

Just started a week of being on call and got a phone call from the fire brigade at 0230. oh the joys of disturbed sleep. I must be getting old as its now Tuesday and I am still suffering, role on Friday when I can do some catching up. Have decided to get some work done on my boat, have a couple of numbers to try and will see how much of an arm or leg its going to cost me.
I thought last night that for one minute I had escaped the rather bad Christmas music that we have to endure. After swimming a few lengths it seems even the swimming pool is not immune. There swimercise classes all move along to the blasting of "I wish it could be Christmas everyday" I soon left, cut my ears off and am awaiting new year before I get them stitched back on again.

I am sorry it has taken so long to add anything over the last few months. I have had problems accessing my blog. This is still has not been fully dealt with, however for ever brief this period I am back on line.
Well for me the summer has ended. The river is now in flood and boating is a little difficult. It means that I am stuck in the office at the moment I can't see any restbite. The good news is I have been confirmed in my position on a perm basis. The first time in two years and I can stay in one place for a while. To top it off I am not working Xmas or New year, the first time in about three years.
All I am awaiting is the chance to go out boating again. As I am not working over xmas I was hoping to get out on the boat however this is looking unlikely esp if the rain continues to fall. I am off to see John Otway at Stoke Row that should be a good night.
The problem with being off line for so long is there is to much to tell and you don't know where to start. So I will sign off for know and see what comes to mind.

Greetings and salutations.

Welcome to my site I hope you enjoy it and will keep on visiting. I am a blog virgin so hopefully I will get the hang of this modern thing. I live in Abingdon on a 57ft narrowboat which I have owned for the last 6 years. It's a great way of life as you live and breathe the countryside and are affected by the seasons. I work the Environment Agency so I am heavily involved in protecting our natural environment, I am based on the River Thames where I work to ensure that it is available for all to use and enjoy.
